Autumn brings inspiration…

This series of work is dedicate to my brothers and my Dad, with whom I raised up countless blisters on my tiny hands as a child. One of our families rituals was to head out to our backyard with bamboo ranks in hand. The stunning canopy of countless old growth trees, sugar and japanese maples, tulip trees, chestnuts, too many oaks varieties to list here and even an old elm turned into a blazing roof of warm colors that rain down upon us as we worked together racking them into gigantic mountains of autumn foliage. This series was intended to capture my haptic experience of those memories, the wonder of nature at this time of the year. I wanted to honor my family who taught me how to work hard and cooperatively. The other lesson I learned was that there is a season for everything even one when we must we must say goodbye to the warmth and carefree joy of the summer and get seriously back to work (or school). My fathers intention was to help us learn early the importance of working shoulder to shoulder with others to make our small world a more beautiful and cared for place. I loved making these and so pleased that they have found their way into the lives of other people…I hope they enjoy them even half as much as I enjoyed making them…

Autumn brings special beauty to the outdoors. Focusing on living a positive life helps me draw on feelings of peace. I avoid getting lost in the hustle and bustle of life.
